In the Czech Republic, the Literature Night will take place not only in Prague - the whole event will fill the streets of all of the Czech cities shown to the right (for other European cities hosting the Literature Night or its variations, please see the lower section).
After its first successful first edition, the European Literature Night (ELN) again invites lovers of literature to indulge in another literary and creative evening in and around Príncipe Real on 07 June.
As a part of the Festas de Lisboa, ELN seeks to promote European literature in creative and original ways and formats. The second edition of ELN will feature selected works by ten acclaimed writers of European literature. Between 18.00 and 23.00, in ten different venues, there will be public readings given by Portuguese actors. The readings, with free entrance, will be repeated every half hour, so that the public can visit all the venues and attend all the scheduled sessions.
With a mix of prose and poetry, ELN 2014 features works with a political background, family and personal stories, and narratives in a language which is both touching and sometimes disconcerting.
The ELN initiative is organized by EUNIC Portugal, a network of cultural institutes and embassies, in collaboration with the European Commission Office in Portugal.
