Centro Nacional de Cultura
The Centro Nacional de Cultura is a cultural association founded in 1945, under Salazar regime, as a place where different political and ideological sectors could meet and discuss the defence of a free and multidisciplinary culture. After the 1974 Revolution, the CNC began to concentrate on promoting an idea of culture without limits, whether those limits were disciplinary or geographical. It tried to be the link between young and old, artist and impresarios, public and private sector. Much of its activity is dedicated to the defence of Portuguese cultural heritage, and to promote growing role of Portuguese culture in the world, and building on its relations with other cultures.
